Make guitars, not violins
Violins are beautiful instruments. They can bring you to tears in a song or terrify you in a horror movie. But they are hard to learn. We like guitars. Anyone can pick up a guitar and play a few chords, but it’s also possible to play face-melting guitar solos. We love this spectrum of possibility and it’s how we are building Over. You can pick up our products and make something interesting and also have the ability to make a masterpiece.
Story matters
We work hard to make our company story meaningful and exciting. It’s hard. It’s not always fun. There are big, scary challenges. And that’s what makes a great story. We throw ourselves at hard problems, intense risk, and painful conflict. We do it because we love the story. It’s worth it.
Go big AND go home
We value both. We want to work hard and build an amazing company. We also want to live healthy lives filled with family, adventure, and experience. This is a critical source of our creativity and motivation. It is also a rare, interesting story. We love it, and want others to have it too.

We’re in Cape Town, South Africa – not many consumer/tech creative companies here serve global audiences so that makes us unique. We’re design centric – we think a lot about design. We think a lot of people in the industry right now are designing things that only a few people can play – but we want to make something like a guitar where people can pick it up play a few chords and sound great while others can play face-melting guitar solos. We like to serve that entire spectrum and our tool enables that.

Intern at Over
I’ve learned how a successful app that has 500,000 monthly active users is managed and how it works under the hood, as well as how an engineering team works together. My coding ability and problem solving abilities have increased tremendously.
All the employees truly love working here and it is very evident. There is just the right amount of joking around and fun time every day. Being around people who love what they are doing is inspiring–it’s as if they’re not even at work. This vibe makes it a fun place to be. Not to mention, the work we are doing is pretty darn cool!
